In case you can’t go to Oktoberfest Munich I collected the best tips on how to have your own Oktoberfest.
What you need:
-Beer: Get genuine German beer (even better would be true “Oktoberfestbier” but it’s very hard to get). Good brands are: “Hofbräu”, “Paulaner” or “Löwenbrau”. These three are brewed in Munich, they’re probably as close as it gets to Oktoberfest beer.
-Steins: the mugs at Oktoberfest hold 1 liter (33 ounces) and are made of glass (but the ones made of fired clay are even more traditional)
-Meat: the most eaten dish at Oktoberfest is pork roast but grilled chicken or grilled duck is also very common. “Weißwurscht” is also a favorite at Oktoberfest Munich.
-Garnishes: dumplings (bread or potato), potato salad, sauerkraut and pretzels mix good with the meat.
-Music: of course German oompah music would be the best but the bands in the tents at Oktoberfest Munich also play more modern music (like from the 80’s or 90’s)
Decoration: For example you could decorate your home with the Bavarian flag from Century Novel, they even lower the price when you order more!
